Accessibility Statement
People come to Know Your Rights UK at stressful moments, and many of our users have disabilities or health conditions. We're committed to making the site as easy to use as possible for everyone.
What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the recognised standard for accessible websites in the UK.
What we do
- ✓Step-by-step content that avoids jargon and explains legal terms
- ✓Clear headings and a logical reading order on every page
- ✓A 'skip to content' link and keyboard-navigable menus and controls
- ✓Text and background colours chosen for readable contrast
- ✓Descriptive links and labelled form fields and buttons
- ✓Responsive layouts that work on phones, tablets and desktops
- ✓Text that can be resized using your browser without breaking the layout
Known limitations
We're always improving. Some older pages or interactive tools may not yet fully meet every criterion, and a few third-party features (such as payment pages) are outside our direct control. If you hit a barrier, please tell us, it helps us fix it.
Adjusting your browser
You can make the site easier to use with your browser or device settings, for example to change text size, colours and contrast, or to use a screen reader. The free AbilityNet “My Computer My Way” guide explains how.
Report a problem
If you find something on the site that's hard to use or access, please email contact@knowyourrightsuk.com and tell us the page and the problem. We'll do our best to put it right and to help you get the information you need in the meantime. See our contact page for other ways to reach us.
