Every guide on this site is free, and the assistant that answers questions about your own situation is free. You only pay if you want the finished document written for you. There is no advertising paywall, no trial that starts charging, and nothing that renews on its own.

Questions people ask before paying
Is the Claim Companion a subscription?
No, and deliberately not. It is a single payment of £19.99 that covers 12 months. Nothing renews automatically and nothing comes off your card again. We publish a guide on subscription traps, and taking a recurring payment from people who arrived here because a benefit was refused would be indefensible. When the 12 months are up, you decide whether to pay again.
What happens after the 12 months if my appeal is still going?
The case you paid from stays unlocked permanently. A mandatory reconsideration takes four to eight weeks and a tribunal wait is often around 35 weeks, so a real fight can run most of a year. The clock can never strand you part-way through the case you bought it for.
Which one do I need?
If you need one document written and sent, that is the letter. If you are fighting a benefits decision and expect this to take months, with a reconsideration and possibly a tribunal, that is the Companion. If you are not sure, start with the free assistant and it will tell you which of the two fits, or that you do not need either.
Can I use the Companion for other people's claims?
For your own claims and for people you care for, yes. An account covers up to three different claimants, which is enough for a carer with two dependants, a parent claiming DLA for a child, or an appointee. It is not sold as a service to run on behalf of others for a fee. If you support people professionally, email contact@knowyourrightsuk.com and we will sort out an organisation account.
What if I cannot afford it?
Email contact@knowyourrightsuk.com and say so. If you are on a means-tested benefit we will turn it on for free, and you will not be asked to prove anything or to explain yourself. The guides and the assistant are free regardless, and they are the part that matters most.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If a letter is not right, contact us and we will either redraft it or refund you. Because a document is delivered immediately, you are asked to consent to that immediate supply at checkout, which is what ends the automatic 14 day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. That does not affect the refund above, and it does not affect your rights if something is faulty.
Are you a law firm?
No. Know Your Rights UK is not a law firm, not a firm of solicitors and not a regulated legal services provider, and nothing here is legal advice. What we do is explain the rules, help you work out where you stand, and write the document properly. For anything that needs a solicitor, we will say so.
