Every guide on this site is free to read, with no account, no paywall and no advertising. It stays that way. If one of them helped and you are in a position to chip in towards running it, this is where you can.
Where the money comes from, and why this asks
One £9.99 letter is the only thing on this site that brings in any money, and the overwhelming majority of people never buy one. There are no adverts, nothing here is tracked and sold, and no company pays to be recommended to you. That is how it should be: the guides and the assistant are the point, and they are free.
It does leave a gap. The assistant costs money every single time somebody asks it a question, and it answers hundreds of them a month, most from people who have no intention of buying anything and should not have to. Donations are what keep it answering for them.
Where this is heading: the plan is to employ real advisers, so that somebody who needs more than a guide and a chatbot can talk to a person who knows the area. That is what the money builds towards.
Give a one-off amount
Anything is genuinely useful. A few pounds covers the hosting for a day; a larger amount pays for the hours that go into checking a guide against the legislation.
Paid securely through Stripe. We never see your card details. One-off, not a subscription, and nothing to cancel.
Please don't, if money is tight
A lot of people reach this site precisely because money is the problem: a benefit refused, a sanction, a bailiff letter, arrears. If that is you, keep your money. Nothing here is held back from people who do not give, and if you are on a means-tested benefit and need the Claim Companion, it is free on request. Ask us, and we will just switch it on.
What your money does not buy
Nothing. That is deliberate. Giving does not unlock guides, remove limits, move you up a queue or change the advice you get. The moment a contribution buys something it stops being a contribution and becomes an undisclosed price, so it buys nothing at all.
Where it goes
Hosting, the AI that powers the free assistant, and the time spent keeping 178 guides accurate. Every guide states at the top which official sources it was checked against and on what date, and our editorial policy explains how that works. That checking is the most expensive part of the site and the least visible.
We also sell two things, and it is easier to say so here than to have you find out later: a drafted letter, and the Claim Companion for benefit claims and appeals. The guides themselves are never part of that.
The legal bit
Know Your Rights UK is not a registered charity. A contribution here is a gift to a business, so there is no Gift Aid and it is not tax deductible, and we would rather be plain about that than let anyone assume otherwise. Payments are handled by Stripe and we never see your card details.
