Where the UK nations differ

These are the differences that matter most when you use a calculator outside England.

Universal Credit calculator	England, Scotland and Wales	GOV.UK tells people in Northern Ireland to go to Universal Credit in Northern Ireland, which runs under its own legislation, so use the nidirect information there.
Redundancy pay calculator	England, Scotland and Wales	Northern Ireland sets its own weekly pay cap, £783 for 2026/27.
PIP points calculator	England and Wales	Scotland has Adult Disability Payment instead. In Northern Ireland, PIP is run by the Department for Communities, not DWP.
Attendance Allowance checker	England and Wales	In Scotland you apply for Pension Age Disability Payment instead.

Child maintenance calculator	Built on the Child Maintenance Service rules	Northern Ireland has its own Child Maintenance Service, which is responsible for making sure parents living apart contribute to their children's costs.
Will planner	All four nations, with different signing rules	In England, Wales and Northern Ireland a will is signed in front of two witnesses. In Scotland a witness is not required for validity, though signing in front of one makes the will self-proving.
