These terms govern your use of Know Your Rights UK (knowyourrightsuk.com) and its guides. By using the site you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Everything on this site is general information about the law in the UK. It is not legal advice and does not create a solicitor-client relationship. The law changes and applies differently to individual circumstances, and the rules differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

You should not rely on this site as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. For advice on your specific situation, especially anything urgent or involving court proceedings, consult a solicitor, your local Citizens Advice, or a relevant specialist organisation.

Our guides, calculators and checkers are free to use. We do not sell letters, documents, memberships or anything else, and nothing on the site is held back behind a payment.

The site used to offer a free Claim Workspace with accounts. It closed on 6 October 2026, and on 7 October 2026 we deleted everything that was stored for those accounts, as explained in our privacy notice.

You can choose to make a donation towards running the site. A donation is voluntary, buys nothing and changes nothing about what you can use. Know Your Rights UK is not a registered charity, so a donation is not eligible for Gift Aid. If you think a donation was taken in error, email us and we will look into it.

We no longer sell letters, documents or memberships, and the pages that delivered them have been closed. If you bought one before 16 September 2026, your rights are not affected, and if you need what you bought, tell us and we will put it right or refund you.

Those purchases were digital content supplied immediately, so the 14 day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 ended once it was delivered. If you paid and did not receive it, it will not open, or you were charged twice, tell us and we will put it right or refund you. None of this affects your separate rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if what we supplied was faulty or not as described.

If you have a membership that renews, email us and we will cancel it. For any question about a past purchase, email contact@knowyourrightsuk.com with the email address you paid with and roughly when you paid.

We work hard to keep the information accurate and up to date, but we make no warranty that it is complete, current or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

The original content, design and branding of this site belong to Know Your Rights UK. You may read, print and share pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not republish or reproduce substantial parts of the site without our permission.

Some legal information is derived from material published on legislation.gov.uk and used under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Our guides show adverts, managed by Mediavine, which keep the site free. The site also contains links to other websites. An advert is not a recommendation. We are not responsible for the content, products or practices of third-party sites, and a link is not an endorsement.

You agree not to misuse the site, for example by attempting to disrupt it, scrape it at scale, or use it for any unlawful purpose.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of its courts, save where mandatory consumer law gives you other rights.
